Weekend Festivities

Hello y'all! My weekend was a lot of fun! We started off early Saturday morning and walked in the Breast Cancer Awareness walk downtown. It was really cold and still dark when we left the house, which I love because it reminds me of traveling. Every time my family went on a vacation when I was growing up we would leave really early in the morning while it was still dark and the air was still cool.

To me the walk was about much more than just breast cancer. I have lost loved ones to various types of cancer and seen others around me hurt from their losses as well. Walking in this walk, for me, was to take 3 hours out of my busy life to remember those people by participating in such an important event. Some people are sceptical about donating to cancer research because they are not sure where the money actually goes.. but sometimes it's just not about the money people. Sometimes it's something more than that. I don't know why... but I found myself a little emotional when we arrived at the walk. I guess I was thinking if I had cancer of any sort, I would appreciate someone taking the time to walk for me. I personally walked for Jennifer Aspen Stewart, Hailey Lavender Jones, Manny Vital, Daddy Butch, Furman Stewart, Roy Lynch, and many more!

Little Boogs could only handle being in his stroller for so long before he decided he must be carried the rest of the way. That boy is heavy!

Saturday night.. the Mr. took me on a date to the fair. We had a blast talking about all the times we had been to the fair when were younger (not together.. we didn't know each other then). We ask each other a lot of questions like "where were you when I was in sixth grade?" He is 6 years older than me and that is not such a significant age different NOW, but years ago when I was starting 9th grade and he was graduating college.. BIG difference! LOL. Here I am on our date winning a fair game for the very first time! We really did have a great time!

and last night was of course Halloween and what could make Halloween even more spectacular? The SWAT team searching your neighborhood for an escaped prisoner!! True story! I promise! There was even a helicopter hovering over our area. They found the prisoner hiding behind the Methodist church right down the street from my parents house. It was a good thing too because let me tell ya... there was a new sheriff in town...

I had a blast at our little Halloween party and could relax a little more after that prisoner was caught! I think all the parents were a little leery of letting their little ones out and about to trick-or-treat. We had lots of yummy treats for our guests and gave the babies wagon hay-rides.

We decided to take them to a few houses on my parents street to let them trick or treat and by the 4rth house they were really getting the hang of it! LOL- so much that they hauled butt running into some one's house and the husband had to go in after them. I laughed so hard!! Judson would walk up the houses and peek in the front door window and knock. He knew this meant candy was coming. He should be a pro next year :)

The babies kept sneaking candy on their wagon ride and were covered in a nice layer of stickiness when we got back to the house. Boogs was one hyper little boy!! See picture below.

I scrubbed all the sugary goodness off of him and put him into his pajamas. I forgot to take a pic with him at the party so I wanted the husband to get a cute one of us before he went to bed, but this proved to be impossible due to the high sugar intake my child participated in.

Five Question Friday

Holy smokes this has been the worst work week I think I have had in a looonnggg time! I am so incredibly happy that today is FRIDAY! Lots of fun things going on this weekend- tomorrow I am walking in the breast cancer walk here in town then my man is taking me on a fun date to the fair! Can we say yay for funnel cakes?!? YAY! LOL
Then Sunday evening is of course Halloween! I am so excited to get the little one ready in his cowboy costume! We are having our usual halloween party in my parents back yard. I always enjoy it so much... getting to make cute treats for the kids, mama's homemade chili, and this year I am even more excited because I am decorating the kids wagons, filling them with pine straw and quilts and giving mini hayrides! LOL

1. If you could be a fly on any wall, which would you choose?
Hmmm... I don't know. There are so many walls I would like to sit on and listen to people's conversations. I love history and old stories, so the first place that comes to mind is somewhere in the White House. I know that probably sounds boring, but I am so interested in past presidents family life and crazy things that happened while living there. I'm reading
Laura Bush's book right now and I love different parts of it and how she opens up about things that took place during their time living at the White House.

2. Do you budget your Christmas shopping or just get it done without budgeting?
I usually set a budget to begin with, but then just do whatever to get the job done LOL
My favorite part is getting all the stuff out that I have bought over time and wrapping it all at once! Seems like there is just TONS of stuff and it's more fun for me!

3. What is the craziest fad diet you have ever done?
Do we really need to discuss the diet that was claimed to be done by all of Hollywood's starlets? I'm sure some people can stomach the cayenne pepper, lemon juice, and maple syrup but I JUST CAN'T DO IT. I gagged everytime I went to drink it.

4. Is there a TV show that you have seen every episode/season of?
Prison Break and Grey's Anatomy. Never missed a beat.

5. What one song always pulls at your heart?
"I Will Be Watching You" by Sting because a boy that was at one time my boyfriend was killed in an automobile accident when we were in 10th grade. They played this song at his funeral.

Have a seriously fun weekend everybody! Stay safe!

WW Wed. (Tuesday)

Photobucket

Good morning! I am doing my Weight Watcher's Wed. post early this week because tomorrow all of us blogger friends will be having a day of silence for Summer B's daddy. I am sad to say he passed away this week due to cancer robbing his body. I hate cancer. Summer, I am praying for you baby girl. I am so sorry for your loss and hope that you can find peace and serenity in this time.
As far as WW goes... how is everyone doing? Are you worried about all the sweet treats on Halloween? You shouldn't! Just be smart about it and enjoy yourself. Some of our favorite candies are not as bad as you think and some are worse, but don't forget that you get 30 emergency points per week for things like this. Just don't go crazy kiddo! What's your poison??

 Candy Corn- 26 pieces= 3 points
Snickers- fun size bar= 2 points
Twizzlers- 6 pc. snack pack= 3 points
Butterfinger-fun size= 2 points
Milky Way- fun size= 1 point
Whoppers- 6 pc. pack= 1 point
Reese's Peanut Butter Cup- 1 cup= 2 points
KitKat Bar- fun size= 3 points
Willy Wonka Laffy Taffy- 5 mini bars= 3 points
Pixie Stix- 7 straws= 1 point
Nerds- 1 mini box= 1 point

According to Calorie King to burn 60 calories which would be those 7 pixie stick straws you just ate lol, you could do one of the following:
17 minutes walking
7 min. jogging
5 min swimming
9 min cycling
Not too bad!!!

I am not sure what the nutrition facts are on the treat I am making for our Halloween party, but I will let you know. Here is what I am making (recipe/idea came from Cheeky Kitchen)
I plan to replace the chocolate chips and heavy cream with sugar free chocolate pudding so that should help out a little with point consumption. They are just too cute and easy!

Five Question Friday

Helloooo there! How are ya? Are you looking forward to the weekend? I am... even though it is slam full with a baby shower, pumpkin patch visit, fight night for the hubby, church, and dinner at friends house. I wonder when I might get to relax a little? Until then... here is FQF! Hope you enjoy!

1. Who is the better cook, you or your spouse?
I would say me because I absolutely LOVE to cook, but every once in awhile the hubby will get a desire to cook and when he does it usually is pretty good. I like when we cook together and flirt at the same time ;)
Photobucket
2. How often do you talk to your mom?
Every single day. Because we are living with my parents right now. I am enjoying our time there, but I am so ready to go back to our house. I am so ready to get to call her and hearing her voice be a special treat, to go by her work and it be more exciting, and I am ready to hear her and my Daddy pull up in our driveway on Saturday mornings for coffee again. I am homesick.
Photobucket
3. Are you adventurous in the kitchen or stick to the recipe?
Oh so adventurous! Scary adventurous! You.Just.Don't.Know! LOL
I have a love for culinary arts and have considered an additional career in that field once I am finished achieving my current one :)
Photobucket
4. Is your second toe longer than your big toe?
Why did this question have to be included? The second toe has haunted me ever since I turned into a teenager. I started noticing things on my body I did not like and that was one of them. I am so insecure about my stupid feet, LOL
I have heard that it means I am the boss of the family, but I say they should invent a toe reduction surgery haha
I love flip flops, but I love when winter comes and I can cover up my toesies.
Photobucket
5. Do you dress up for Halloween? (Bonus question: What will you be this year?)
I used to, but now that I have a kid I just dress him up and I get all cute. Here is a pic from last year's Halloween. I was so excited about that night and loving having a cute little monkey to show off!

Have a blessed weekend!

Pink & Green Thursday

It's P&G Thursday and I don't know about y'all but I am SUPER ecstatic about the autumn season and Halloween festivities coming about! The little one is going to be a cowboy this year and I can't wait to see his precious little self in those wrangler jeans and cowboy boots! I am hoping to take him to the pumpkin patch in the next couple of weeks too. I can't wait to see the excitement on his face! What are you plans for Halloween? What are you or your kids dressing up as? What are your memories of Halloween?

Whatever your memories are... I hope this month takes you to a good place like it does me. I love when the leaves start to change, pumpkins start to be placed on front porches, brown boots show their soles, and Mama burns her pumpkin spice candle. Happy fall y'all and happy Pink & Green Thursday :)
