Something about Sisters

There is something about sisters. The way they keep your secrets safe, the way you can cry on their shoulder and they can make even the worst seem better, the way you can be arguing with one another and then look at eachother and burst out laughing! Sisters are the most wonderful thing in the world. There was a time when my sister was the most annoying person in the world to me and I HATED sharing a room with her, got so annoyed with how she wanted to follow me around, and never thought there would be a day when she would be the best friend I ever had. TODAY, she is that friend... my best friend. I looked at her today and saw just how beautiful she is and how much I am thankful for her. She is my breath of fresh air and lol...the person I am trying to call right now to see if she wants to come watch a movie and stay the night! Lulu- I love you and am so proud of the woman you have become.

What does a teacher make?

As a future educator, most of the time I hear negative comments about how little I will be making once I become a teacher and how so and so decided they could not ever be a teacher because the pay was not good enough.. you get the picture. I mostly hear negative comments and they are all about the pay. Although I believe that educators don't make as much money as they should, money is not the reason for my wanting to be a teacher. One of my teachers sent me along with her other students this story and I love it!
_______________________________________________
The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life.

One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education.

He argued: "What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?" He reminded the other dinner guests that it's true what they say about teachers: "Those who can: do. Those who can't: teach."

To corroborate, he said to another guest: "You're a teacher, Susan," he said. "Be honest. What do you make?"

Susan, who had a reputation of honesty and frankness, replied, "You want to know what I make? I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could. I can make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor and an A- feel like a slap in the face if the student did not do his or her very best. I can make kids sit through 40 minutes of study hall in absolute silence. I can make parents tremble in fear when I call home. You want to know what I make?" "I make kids wonder." "I make them question." "I make them criticize." "I make them apologize and mean it." "I make them write." "I make them read, read, read." "I make them spell "definitely &beautiful" over and over again, until they will never misspell either one of those words again." "I make them show all their work in math and hide it all on their final drafts in English." "I elevate them to experience music and art and joy in the performance, so their lives are rich, full of kindness and culture, and they take pride in themselves and their accomplishments." "I make them understand that if you have the brains, then follow your heart...and if someone ever tries to judge you by what you make, you pay them no attention." "You want to know what I make? I make a difference."

Susan turned to the CEO, "What do you make?"

Your Memory Lane

Last night I was going through some things in our home office and I came across something that I had made for Jimbo on our first wedding anniversary. I still need to have it framed... actually I need to have a lot of things framed but anyway I thought I would share it with you because I think they are just the neatest things ever! It's called yourmemorylane. To explain what they do best.. I am going to tell you about mine and Jimbo's memory lane (the top picture.) I chose the 3 building street that comes with 3 street signs, 4 vehicles, and 14 memories! So... I fill out the paper work with:
14 MEMORIES
1.We both graduated from Satsuma High School.
3. Our first "official" date was at Copeland's Cheesecake Factory in Louisiana.
4.We spent our first Valentine's Day in Atlanta together and it snowed.
5. We used to read the newspaper in bed every Sunday morning together.
6. Jimbo proposed to Emily at Christmas time after eating a romantic dinner at Ruth Chris Steak House.
7. One of our favorite memories is drinking peach wine and slow dancing in the bedroom together.
8. Emily worked in Miami and Jimbo would send love letters and flowers to her while she was gone.
9.Jimbo attempted to teach Emily how to play tennis.
10.We got married at the Promise Land on October 13.
11.We honeymooned in Riviera Maya, Mexico
12.We got sparrow tattoos together that symbolize soul mates
13.Our song is "I knew I loved you Before I Met You" by Savage Garden
14.We are expecting our first child in March.
The 3 streets were the streets we have lived on since we met. The vehicles I chose were the cars we owned when we met, a bus with "Jimmy's" on the side (inside joke), and a golf cart with "Go Bama" on the side since Jimbo loves to play golf and loves Bama.
So.... you turn all of your information in and the company turns it into a memory lane for you!! They send you a proof and let you make any changes you want to make including colors, logos, wording... you name it! Check out their website and see what all neat things they can do. They make wonderful gifts for all occasions. They are kinda pricey but they run specials throughout the year and believe me.. who ever you get it for will love looking at everything and remembering all the memories that each picture symbolizes!

Hoot of A Time

I
love my new Hue 100% cotton pajama pants so much that I had to share them with you! The print is called "Hoot of a time" and the draw-strings have cute sayings written on them such as "color outside the lines... let yourself daydream...agree with your imagination...laugh at the rules" and they are oh so comfy! I bought mine at Belk but you can order them on their website and also check out some of their other adorable prints. These would make a great Christmas gift for someone this year :)

Baby Boys

G od made the world out of His dreams
Of magic mountains, oceans and streams,
Prairies and plans and wooded land,
Then paused and thought “I need someone to stand
On top of mountains, to conquer the seas,
Explore the plains and climb the trees.
Someone to start out small and to grow,
Sturdy, strong as a tree…” And so,
He created boys, full of spirit and fun,
To explore and conquer, to romp and run.
With dirty faces and banged up chins,
With courageous hearts and boyish grins.
When He had completed the task He’d begun
He surely said “A job well done”.

November's Book of the Month

"Y
he Girls from Ames" was such a little treasure of a book to me. It is a true story about eleven women that have been best friends for forty years. It basically tells their story and all the fun times as well as tragedy's they have been through. It made me think about the friends I have had my whole life and everything that we have been through together. Visit their website and learn more about the book. It is kind of sad- especially the parts about Sheila, but overall leaves you just wanting to call your best friend and tell her you love her.

God is Good

"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!" Psalm 118:1
I could not help but look at these pictures and think about how thankful I am for God blessing me with these two beautiful people in my life. I love them so much!
